Lives transformed: 40 years of violence & social change

University of Warwick

The University of Warwick carried out a major research project using records from the Home Office Homicide Index, analysing police data from England and Wales spanning more than forty years. The research explored how patterns of lethal violence have changed over time, and the wider political, economic, social, and cultural factors influencing them. The aim was to share these findings with policymakers and the public.

The result was an animation that translates four decades of research into a clear, engaging story using illustration, photography, and archive imagery. I shaped the narrative and visual approach, placing the findings within their wider social, political, and cultural context. It was presented at the Royal Society of Arts alongside Dame Nicole Jacobs, the Domestic Abuse Commissioner.
