Pushing Forward
Listen Up
Pushing Forward is a report by Jahnine Davis and Listen Up addressing adultification in child safeguarding - a phenomenon where children are perceived as older than they are. This issue disproportionately affects marginalised and vulnerable groups, particularly Black children and those from lesser-heard backgrounds. Listen Up needed a way to convey the report’s findings in an accessible format that could be easily understood and applied by practitioners, educators, and communities working with these groups.
The task was to design and illustrate the research report and create supporting materials that would make the findings engaging and digestible for a wider audience. The goal was to translate complex research into formats that were visually clear, accessible, and engaging.
The project resulted in multi-format resources, including the main report, short guide, training PowerPoint, and supporting content. Complex insights on adultification were translated into clear, engaging materials, enabling practitioners, educators, and communities to understand and apply them effectively. These resources extended the reach and impact of the project, ensuring the findings were widely shared, used in training, and integrated into practice.
