NWG Network
Role: Creative Direction, Illustration, Character Design, Animation Production
Brief
The NWG Network is a UK-based charity and network of over 12,000 practitioners dedicated to preventing child exploitation and trafficking. NWG identified a pressing need to improve awareness of child abuse within faith-based communities. The task was to create an animation to help parents, community members, faith leaders, and volunteers recognise the signs of abuse and respond appropriately. The animation needed to be inclusive, accessible, culturally sensitive, and available in multiple languages. A key consideration was ensuring no reference was made to any faith, ethnicity, or gender.
Approach
Working closely with the NWG team, I developed a cast of characters and illustrations that were deliberately universal, carefully designed to feel inclusive and relevant across all backgrounds and communities. As creative director, I led the project from concept through to completion, designing and illustrating all characters and scenes before working alongside an animator to bring everything to life.
Outcome
The animation became a core part of NWG Network's safeguarding toolkit, reaching faith communities across multiple languages and backgrounds. It helped raise awareness of child abuse, reinforced the importance of taking action to protect vulnerable individuals, and gave audiences the confidence to open conversations when they had concerns.
